Tag&Rename is a versatile software tool that allows you to organize your entire music collection very quickly, no matter whether you have just a few songs or a very large collection. As its name suggests, the program is capable of both renaming your audio files and editing their tags info in batches. Tag&Rename supports all major audio file formats, such as MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC, etc.
The program, however, offers a messy user interface, whose visual design could be widely improved. It is divided into two panels. The one at the bottom shows you a built-in file navigator that allows you to locate your source files without leaving the program. This panel can be configured to list audio files from subfolders too, and to allow file selection either in a Windows Explorer style or through checkboxes. The panel on the top side, on the other hand, allows you to access through specific tabs the three main functions offered by the program.
The first of these functions is "Rename Files". It allows you to define a filename mask to be applied to all your selected audio files. For this, you can use variables such as the song's title, author, year, album, and genre, the track number, the current file name, and others. The second function is "Multiple File Tag Editor" and it allows you to change the tag information of multiple audio files in batches. Of course, there are also certain tags that support batch-editing, such as the artist, the album, the year, the genre, and the comments. You can select the tags you want to change on your source files and type the new values directly. more
