Modify tags like lyrics, album art, artist, etc. for MP3, WMA, M4A, ASF, AAC, OGG, APE and many other audio formats. Batch rename audio files according to a set of customizable rules.

Though, as its own ad goes, “The name says it all...”, Tag&Rename moves audio file tagging and renaming to a higher level. This comprehensive editor can tag and rename any amount of audio files in batches using accurate masks and profiles. It supports all the most popular audio file formats and all ID3 tags, up to those in the new ID3v2.4 set, and connects with freedb, Amazon, and Discogs to download artwork and tag content.

The program’s functionality is divided into three main sections – file renaming, multi-file tag editing, and filename-to-tag content transfer. All of these three areas can be thoroughly customized to produce accurate results in no time. Depending on how your music files are organized, these processes can be more or less automated.

File renaming uses masks to extract information from your files’ tags and thus produce homogeneous filenames. These masks are made up of variables that you can combine with other characters to create new names that are both informative and accurate. Artist, Title, Album, Year, Genre, Track number, and Album Artist are but a few of the variables supported, and you can combine them in any way to create consistent new filenames. However, to make masks truly useful so that they can be used with a large number of files and convey accurate results, all your files need to be comprehensively and precisely tagged. And this is where the program’s tagging functionality comes into play.

Tagging your files can be done on a one-by-one basis or using a series of batch processes. Some involve manual input, some will allow you to connect to online databases to retrieve information, and others will use the existing filenames to fill in missing tag information. Either way, the possibilities and the possible tag combinations are endless, and they are for you to decide. You can use masks to tell the program how to interpret the information in the file name and transfer it correctly into the right tags, or you can edit tags manually and apply that change to a set of selected files. You may want to swap tags between fields, or organize your music tracks by albums or folders; you may want to resize the cover art, import and export tag information from and to XLS files, or copy content from one field to another... Whatever your needs are, Tag&Rename has the means to help you. It offers you all the tools you may ever need to document, catalog, and organize your music collection in a precise and elegant way.
